Strong Winds Hit Long Beach, Palm Fronds and Debris Scattered Across Streets

A gusty weather pattern surged through Long Beach recently, sending palm fronds fluttering to the ground and scattering leaves and debris across neighborhoods. Wind gusts reportedly reached up to 30 mph in some areas, while sustained breezes hovered between 15 and 20 mph.

Drivers along Ocean Boulevard, Shoreline Drive, and other exposed thoroughfares noted reduced visibility and loose debris on the road. In residential areas like Belmont Shore and Bixby Knolls, branches and bits of trash were seen littering sidewalks and lawns.

City maintenance crews moved in to clear sidewalks and intersections, and residents were reminded to secure loose items, avoid parking near large trees, and stay alert near power lines.
