LONG BEACH, Calif. Thousands of people packed Long Beach’s shoreline Friday as the city celebrated America’s 250th birthday with three simultaneous fireworks shows stretching across the waterfront.
Families filled the sand early in the day, setting up umbrellas, beach chairs, barbecues, and games while waiting for the evening celebration. From Alamitos Beach to Belmont Shore, the coastline remained busy throughout the afternoon as residents and visitors gathered to celebrate Independence Day.
At 9 p.m., fireworks launched simultaneously from three barges anchored offshore near Granada Beach, Junipero Beach, and the Queen Mary. The synchronized displays lasted approximately 20 minutes, lighting up much of the Long Beach coastline.
One of the best vantage points was Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier, where spectators could simply turn their heads to experience all three shows. Looking west, the Granada Beach fireworks filled the sky. Looking east, viewers could watch both the Junipero Beach and Queen Mary displays at the same time, creating a panoramic fireworks experience that few places along the Southern California coast can offer.
Cheers erupted across the beach as each finale intensified, with thousands of people lining the shoreline, the pier, nearby parks, and waterfront pathways to take in the celebration.
The annual Fourth of July celebration has become one of Long Beach’s signature summer traditions, bringing together residents and visitors for a full day of beach activities before ending with a spectacular display over the Pacific Ocean.
Long Beach Classic was at Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier to capture the celebration from one of the best views in the city. Watch our Fourth of July fireworks video on Instagram and browse our photo gallery for a closer look at one of the biggest nights of the summer.
