Disneyland License Plates Could Soon Be Coming to California
California could soon get Disneyland-themed license plates, but the plates are not officially available yet and the design still hasn’t been revealed.
The proposed specialty plates were announced today through a partnership between Disneyland Resort and the office of California State Treasurer Fiona Ma. The goal is to create a new California specialty plate that would help raise money for children’s hospitals across the state.
Right now, the program is still in its early stages. Before the plates can officially move forward, the California DMV must approve the program, and at least 7,500 people need to sign up showing interest.
At the moment, the state is only collecting names and email addresses from people interested in:
- Updates about the program
- Preorder notifications
- The eventual plate design reveal
The official Disneyland plate design has not been released yet, although fan-made mockups have already started circulating online showing what people think the plates could look like.
According to the information released so far, expected pricing would be:
- $50 for a standard plate
- $103 for a personalized plate
Annual renewal fees are expected to be:
- $40 for standard plates
- $83 for personalized plates
Funds raised from the plates would go toward supporting 13 children’s hospitals throughout California, including MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital in Long Beach.
People who want to help the program reach the required 7,500 signups can register interest through the official state website here:
